I have a small tree but I always just shake it and go over the leaves with my mower

5 bags?
Man I get 25+ stuffed before I’m done
A few sugar maples and a red oak will fill up a 1/8 of an acre lot pretty quickly.

Just getting started !

I’m mulching into garbage cans and then wheelbarrow loads, 3 Wheelbarrows or 15 Mulched Cans so far and the leaves are just starting to fall.
Trying to keep the lawn from dying and get a mow in between rainy days, picking up black walnuts in the back right after it rains to let the leaves dry a bit. Tis the season, already cut an extension cord and stabbed my hose cleaning up the gardens. I really should hire this out ;).

1st year in my house, I spent 4-8 hours every weekend in Oct and Nov doing leaves and bagging them.
2nd year I waited until just before Thanksgiving and did it all in 1 go. Hell of a hard day.
3rd year gave upon bagging and blew them into the woods at the back each weekend.
4th year I waited until Thanksgiving and blew them all out the back.
5th year after wondering why I’m the only idiot in the neighbourhood doing this. I got a mulching blade and just mowed them into the lawn.

One does not simply fill 6 bags of leaves and think they are done.

6 bags? My lawn vacuum would have made that into maybe 3/4 of one bag. You need to mulch those leaves up somehow, you’re just wasting bags and time

Leaves are soil. Google it. Literally no point in bagging leaves. Mulch them.

I let my grass grow out a little bit right now so when 75% of the leaves come down I bag them easily. Then I just mulch the rest in late November

It’s never ending I swear
MileHighManBearPig
Run it over with your lawn mower a few times and call it good. They are gone by December and free fertilizer.
There’s almost no need to do any hard work with leaves.

It’s fucking endless. I’d like to just chop these damn things down. Then I could get solar, too.
ThisOldGuy1976
We just rake them to the curb and the city picks them up
Seven_bushes
Mulch most of what’s in the yard but leave some in out of the way places for bugs like fireflies to winter.
SEND_ME_SPIDERMAN
mulch it. it’s free fertilizer

I’m not in a neighborhood, and my lawn is nowhere near as nice as most in this sub, but I just leave my leaves there. insulates the ground a bit, and provides space for some nice buggies to lay eggs & survive the winter.

I pick up some of my leaves in February after the oaks drop them because they just stay too dry to decompose. So I do one good pick up and then mulch them the rest of the year.
Gardening peeps LOVE bagged leaves and will come pick them up. You can post that you’re setting them out. In my county we get 2 free leaf pick ups a year plus two scheduled leaf pick ups . So I call, schedule and it doesn’t really matter to me if there’s nothing out there when the truck makes its rounds. Sometimes I bag them to use myself in the raised beds.
I’ve also seen some reptile amphibian breeding/retail places that pay for clean, sorted, herbicide and pesticide free live oak leaves because folks use them in terrariums.
In short I just don’t think it’s that big of a deal if you pick up your leaves (though I think there are some best practices based on your region). Do what you want!
justthesameway
looks like you could have been good with 3 or 4 bags. they’re not close to being full.

1st day I moved in my house all the Doug furs, maples, every worthless tree was cut down and excavated. All that is left is a boarder around the property of emerald green arborvitae. Hopefully soon I’ll have a chip and putt yard around 3 sides of the house! Perennial rye for the fairway and bent grass on the greens.

And I tell my friends how I have filled 22 of the long construction bags full of leaves. Could put 15+ of those tiny things in one bag. I just burn them now

This is my feeling every year…it’s an endless cycle until December 😳

Lol I used to do it myself. Now I just hire out for spring and fall cleanup cuz it’s just way too much and I don’t have the time. I have a mulching machine too which helped reduce the amount of bags drastically.

Yah probably should just mulch that
